Eastwood is located along the trail of a battle that took place in 1781. The monument serves as a reminder of the battle that occurred between settlers in Eastwood and Native Americans. The battle is known as the Long Run Massacre. After the battle took place, Colonel John Floyd led a small company of militia to Long Run intending to punish the Indians. However, Colonel John Floyd and his company were defeated.
