Pleasureville, Kentucky is located about 40 miles east of the Indiana state line. The city is situated in both Henry and Shelby counties and has a population of almost 900 people according to the 2000 United States Census. The city was formed in 1874 after the Louisville & Nashville Railroad established a train depot in what would later become Pleasureville. A post office had been established not far from where the depot was established and eventually moved to be closer to the depot. After the post office moved, the former location in which it was located became known as North Pleasureville. Eventually, another post office was established in North Pleasureville. In 1962, Pleasureville and North Pleasureville merged to form one city.
There are many things to see and do around Pleasureville. Lake Jericho is a 137-acre lake and recreational area and is located about 17 miles north of Pleasureville. The lake offers many activities such as swimming, fishing, boating, and much more. The Smith-Berry Winery is a beautiful winery located about 9 miles north of Pleasureville. The winery offers tours and houses a tasting room.
Weather in Pleasureville is characterized by warm, humid summers and cold winters. Temperatures during the months of June, July, and August tend to vary from the mid to upper-80s. Also, the city experiences plenty of rain during the months of summer.
